Although all of our regular Jiu-jitsu classes are co-ed and available to women and men, we are currently offering a FREE women only introductory Jiu-Jitsu class once a month! The class is open to the public, and all experience and levels are welcome. Check our live schedule to find out which Sunday the class will be held for each month. This is one of the few places you can find a ladies only class and it's free (for now). This is a great (and sometimes easier) way to get started in Jiu-Jitsu and ground fighting. It is open to all ladies that really want to learn Jiu-Jitsu. Some have just been intimidated or uncomfortable by the all male classes, some are downright scared or grossed out, others
just want to learn in a place where strength and ego are diminished, and others want to compete and well...we compete against other women, not men, so we should be training with as many women as we can! Women tend to have less upper body strength (and less strength in general) but tend to be more technical, flexible, have more endurance, and often higher pain threshold. Most women have never had the chance to try a combat sport, so most think it is "not for them." You would be surprised by the types of students we have - from at home mom's, to college students, to surgeons, to executives, to actresses, artists, etc... it can be for you too, so come in and give it a try!
One of the goals of this class is to get more women into the sport, in a more inviting environment, empower them and help them transition to the co-ed classes, but some ladies choose to just stay in the all female class which is fine too. Jiu-Jitsu is also great for fitness and self-defense (most attacks end up on the ground). You will learn a lot, not just about Jiu-Jitsu, but also about yourself.
This class is taught by Kim Ferguson.
